What to watch for in plumbing after the 2026 changes
24-hour emergency lines
The missed-call rule applies during your business hours. If your Local Services hours say 24/7, every unanswered call over 20 seconds is billable, so answer or forward overnight calls.
Jobs you don’t do
Google no longer credits “job type not serviced” leads. If you don’t do septic or well pumps, turn those services off in your profile instead of hoping for credits.
Drain and sewer price spikes
Specialty categories often cost more per lead than general plumbing, so each invalid one costs more.

Plumbing Local Services Ads: common questions
How much does a Google Local Services lead cost for plumbing in 2026?
99 Calls reports $66.17 per lead for plumbing (April to June 2026). Google sets prices by auction, so your market can differ. CallWarden's free audit shows your actual average.
Does Google charge plumbers for missed calls?
Since October 1, 2026, a missed call during your business hours is charged as a valid lead if the caller stays on the line for more than 20 seconds. If your phone system makes callers press a key, the 20 seconds start after the key press.
Can I still dispute a bad Local Services lead?
Google replaced manual disputes with automated credits. It credits some invalid leads on its own, and you can rate any lead ("Rate this lead") to report spam, sales calls, wrong numbers and duplicates, which can earn a credit. Google no longer credits leads for jobs you don't do or areas you don't serve.
A customer called three times about one leak. Am I charged three times?
Google says follow-up contacts from the same customer within 15 days of the first interaction are charged once. If you see more than one charge, those extra charges are duplicates you can rate for credit, and CallWarden matches them automatically by phone number.
